Mother Blessings

A mother blessing is an intimate alternative to the baby showers that have become increasingly popular in western society. Inspired by the ancient Navajo ceremonies called blessing ways, a mother blessing shifts the focus from showering baby with gifts to showering the mum-to-be with love, support and encouragement ahead of her birth. My aim from hosting this event is to make Mama feel really loved and supported by her friends and family, empowering her for her upcoming birth.

 

I can alter this event to suit the wants and needs of individual mothers. Typical elements include: cacao ceremony, making artwork or affirmations for Mam, asking attendees to prepare inspirational quotes or poems they would like to read out loud, making a flower crown for Mama, and small gift bags for everyone attending (includes a candle to light for Mama's labour, incense sticks, a small bracelet to break once baby is here, herbal salt bath bomb)...

 

I can use my café in Llanaelhaearn for this day, or come to your own venue. I like to decorate according to the seasons, taking inspiration from Mother Nature (please see below the Mother Blessing I hosted in January 2024). I can fully cater the event, or what works really well for this day is if everyone brings something that they've made with love. Everything is arranged prior to the day through a WhatsApp group.
